You Haven't Lived Until You've Tried These Healthy Habits

Health fads come and go, but a healthy lifestyle is forever. Much like how a leather jacket never goes out of style, a good wellness routine will always be classically reliable-- if you stick with it! Over the years, I've developed a set of practical health habits that focus on lifestyle changes, natural remedies and detox foods. And best of all, you don't need to flip your life upside down to make these changes! Since I know committing to a solid health routine can be difficult, here's a dose of inspiration to get you started!

Homeopathy for stress

I'm no homeopathy fanatic, but I love a few of these remedies-- especially my stress-fighting ones. First of all, in case you don't know about homeopathy, it's a form of alternative medicine based on the belief that the body can cure itself. Using tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants and minerals, these medicines can spark the body's self-healing process.

I use a remedy called Pulsatilla, meant for helping the body cope with stress, anxiety and hormonal imbalances. Whenever I feel a bit off or panicky, these homeopathic pellets help my body find harmony. This health habit is particularly great for women because it works well for female stressors.

Ginger gut shots

Tummy troubles? Ginger is an excellent natural remedy for firing up your digestive juices. Helping your body release more gastric enzymes to break down food, ginger speeds up the movement through your stomach.

So everyday, I make a gut shot with a pinch of ginger, apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper. As one of my favorite health habits, this one makes me feel lighter and calmer-- likely because my body is cleaner on the inside!

No snacking after 8pm

Although many of us love the comfort of late-night eating, this habit won't leave you so comfortable in the morning! Once you go to bed, your digestive system slow down while you sleep, keeping the food in your gut for longer. Not only does this condition put stress on your gut, you're more likely to wake up feeling bloated, filled and possibly more "windy"... (if you get my drift, ha).

Bentonite detox clay shots

Bentonite clay is a natural healer made from volcanic ash. Like a toxin sponge, this clay literally soaks up the impurities, heavy metals and chemicals from your body. Drinking bentonite over time can help strengthen your body's immunity and energy levels.

I take two shots daily of bentonite clay water (the drinkable kind, NOT the beauty mask kind!!!). Once in morning and once at night, I drink it 2 hours after meals or supplements.

Physical activity over working out

We all know that working out is part of a healthy lifestyle. The only problems is that for some of us, due to personal reasons, an intense fitness schedule isn't realistic. That's why I prioritize physical activity over working out. The two activities are surprisingly different: while working out focuses on building your body, physical activity can be any active pastime that increases your heart rate (Department of Health).

For this reason, I include at least 3 hours of physical activity each week, doing activities I love such as rollerblading, rock climbing, hiking or biking. Not only is the experience fantastic for my cardiovascular health, but it keeps me feeling confident and motivated.
